Anselm Franke

new year 3

January 2024 with Anselm Franke

Reiko Kanazawa and Yuki Nishino will prepare Japanese New Year foods called Osechi and Ozoni - several dishes of which each carries a specific traditional meaning.

Celebrating recurring events of the year with particular foods is a very important part of Japanese tradition in order to differentiate these events from the everyday, and the carefully crafted dishes will incorporate regional German ingredients and products by mimi.

The origin of the Japanese New Year ceremony is the time of transition between seasons and is believed to bring the world of the living and the dead closer together. Through this dinner event we will have the opportunity to gain awareness of our physical presence as well as the season, both by their corporal and ephemeral natures.

This year we are combining our dinner with a lecture held by Anselm Franke and Dr. Ralph Amann.
