Miso

Miso is a Japanese seasoning paste made primarily from soybeans, rice or other grains, and salt. There are several types of miso that vary in flavor, color, and consistency, depending on the ingredients used and the length of fermentation.
Miso pastes are used in numerous Japanese dishes, especially miso soup. Miso also serves as a base for many sauces. In addition, miso paste can be used to marinate fish, meat or vegetables to give them a rich umami flavor.
The idea that miso is a gift from the gods that brings health, longevity and happiness reflects the cultural significance and appreciation of miso in the Japanese culture.
