The quality of our ferments is especially important to us. That's why we carefully pack them in reliable, mostly plastic-free packaging, with cooling where needed depending on the product and weather conditions, so they arrive fresh and intact.

Shipping Your Order

Your order will generally be shipped according to the following schedule:

• Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email with your tracking number. Please also check your spam folder.
• We primarily ship with DPD. Deliveries to parcel lockers and alcohol-containing products such as Hon Mirin are shipped via DHL with age verification.
• The courier will first attempt to deliver your order directly to you. If you are not available, the parcel may be redirected to a parcel locker or parcel shop.
• Starter cultures weighing up to 500 g can be shipped within Germany as a letter with a tracking number for €2.90.
• Digital products, such as workshops and gift vouchers, are delivered by email free of charge.

Storage

Please place your order in the refrigerator as soon as it arrives. You can find detailed storage instructions on each product page, in our shipping confirmation email and in our article “Shelf Life & Storage”.

Alcohol-Containing Products

Hon Mirin is shipped exclusively to adults, with age verification upon delivery.

Shipping Costs

For shipments to Switzerland, the recipient will also be charged an invoicing fee of CHF 8.00 per shipment.

For shipments to other countries, please contact us by email in advance.

Our Packaging Materials

Our cardboard boxes and ice packs are largely plastic-free, reusable and recyclable. The insulation is made of cellulose and can be disposed of with paper recycling.

The ice packs consist of a plastic outer casing and a non-toxic gel filling. Because the gel has binding properties, we recommend disposing of the contents in general waste. The plastic casing can be disposed of in the appropriate plastic recycling bin.

Even better: reuse rather than discard. You can reuse the ice packs for your own transport or to keep items cool.

Ice packs with a paper coating may appear more environmentally friendly at first glance. However, they are made from composite materials and are therefore more difficult to recycle than ice packs made entirely of plastic. For this reason, we deliberately choose not to use them.

Damage During Shipping

If an item arrives damaged, please send us photos of the product and its packaging. This helps us assess the damage quickly and process your claim.
