How we ship

The quality of our ferments is very important to us. To ensure that our products reach you undamaged, we have decided to use very reliable packaging for our shipping. This protects our products well and enables plastic-free, refrigerated shipping. Since experience has shown that most orders contain a product that needs to be refrigerated, we ship everything within Germany at a flat rate of €8.90, regardless of whether it needs to be refrigerated or not. For shipments within the EU, please check the prices of the table below.

 

 

Shipping & delivery times

  • We ship our products Monday to Wednesday to ensure that the ferments are not sitting in the shipping depot over the weekend. We aim to ship all orders placed by 8am on Wednesday the same day, but this is not guaranteed.
  • We mainly ship with DPD within Germany, Austria, Benelux and Denmark. For the rest of EU countries and irlands, packages are sent with DHL. Orders containing the product Hon Mirin are also shipped with DHL, as this product contains alcohol and is subject to age verification. Final transportation in the country of the end customer could be managed by a local transport company.
  • You will receive an email from the shipping service provider with the tracking number that you can use to track your package. Please also check your spam folder before contacting us about the delivery. Depending on the shipping service provider, the package will be scanned immediately when we receive it or later when it is processed in the shipping depot. It can sometimes take a while for the tracking service to show a shipment status even though the package has already started its journey.
  • Our shipping service providers will attempt to deliver to the specified delivery address. If this is unsuccessful, the package will be forwarded to a nearby parcel shop. Please check the different options offered to arrange delivery if you are not at home on the day of delivery.
  • Since we rely on external service providers, we unfortunately cannot guarantee delivery times and ask for your understanding.
  • Letter shipping within Germany only for starter cultures up to 500g total weight: 1.60 €. Regarding any other postal delivery also for starter cultures up to 500g total weight: 3,70 €
  • Digital products such as workshop participation or vouchers are free of shipping costs and are sent by email.

 

Storage after reception

Please follow the recommendations on the product page, in the document we send you by email, in the terms and conditions and in the ‘Shelf life and storage’ section of our website. In short, it is important to store the products in the refrigerator immediately after reception, especially important for: Koji products, Sagohachi, Amazake, Natto, fresh Kome Koji, Soba shiro tamari, Shiro miso and Beetroot miso.


Products containing alcohol

    Products containing alcohol, such as Hon Mirin, are only sold and shipped to people who meet the legal requirements . By using Postident delivery, we ensure that the shipment is only handed over personally to the purchaser .

      For shipments to Switzerland, the receiver will be charged an additional invoicing fee of CHF 8.00 per shipment.

      If you would like to have the products shipped to a country not listed, please email us before ordering and we will inquire about the shipping costs.

       

      Our packaging material

      We not only attach great importance to the quality of our food, but also to treating our environment with care. For this reason, we use plastic-free cool bags and cardboard boxes made from recycled paper filled with pulp for our refrigerated shipping. Our ice packs are also plastic-free and laminated in paper.

       

      Disposal

      The cardboard packaging and insulated bags can be recycled with waste paper, while the ice packs should be disposed of in the general waste. However, the robust insulated bag and the ice packs can also be easily reused.

       

      Transport damage

      We try to package our products as safely as possible. If a product does break, please send us a photo of the damaged item and the outer packaging. We need this information to report the incident to the shipping service provider. Otherwise, we unfortunately cannot compensate for any damage.
